About the Lion City Cup

The Lion City Cup is one of the oldest and prestigious youth tournaments in the world with its first edition dating back to 1977.

The tournament has unearthed Singaporean legends such as Fandi Ahmad, V. Sundramoorthy, Indra Sahdan and more recently Baihakki Khaizan and Hariss Harun who both play for the LionsXII team which participates in the Malaysia Super League and Malaysia Cup.

Initially starting off with regional teams, the Lion City Cup witnessed African, Australian and European teams enter the fray in the 90s with Perth winning the title in 1994.

With Canon coming on board as a title sponsor in 2011, the Canon Lion City Cup has emerged as an even bigger platform for top club teams around the world to showcase emerging youth talent in the U16 category.

The likes of Juventus, Everton, CR Flamengo, Newcastle, FC Porto, CR Vasco da Gama, Manchester City and AFC Ajax have all gone up against our very own National Football Academy sides in breathtaking displays of youth football over recent years!
